Hey everyone!

I'm aware that the current SDK isn't compatible with ARM chips and have really been struggling to find alternative options.

I've researched into dual booting an older version of Mac OS, but it isn't possible on M1.
All the VM's I've looked into can run Linux and Windows but only ARM versions.
(Can I possibly run Mac OS Big Sur in VMware Fusion?)

Is there any solution or is it just a waiting game?

Thanks!

Hi @adabella, we have done some further testing of our older V2 hand tracking software for Mac and whilst this software will work with the Apple M1 chips unfortunately it is not compatible with macOS Monterey and will not detect a connected Leap Motion Controller.

As Mac support is deprecated we will not be making any changes or updates to our legacy V2 release for Mac however Mac Support is on the roadmap and we are looking to make Gemini available for macOS later this year.

Hi all, I had a similar issue to this and unfortunately upgraded to Monterey, my friends m1 has big Sur so I know it'd work for that, I have an intel Mac that I did a comparison on for testing.

so basically I have an m1 with Monterey, I have been able to get this working - the caveat is just that it doesn't work as it did before - still inspecting the changes. the issue is that it doesn't register the device connected (leap motion controller) so any software you want to use for the web socket is nerfed.

so after a bit of testing, and some random luck I found this method has it working.
I load the leap motion software - goto settings: recalibrate device
from here you will get a screen that requests you connect your leap (even though it is already)
from here I restart the Mac mini m1 -
when I restart I'm presented with a working diagnostic for the leap settings, but also the controller resumes so I can use it for web socket stuff.
hope this can help some people - I know dan helped me before -

now the issue is that - before I used touches_lm and it gave me a nice green spot to hover click with - and in Monterey it appears the mouse cursor itself becomes integrated. it still works but your mileage may vary.

little bit later I will try and post some screenshot or video to demonstrate.
this is on Monterey 12.2.1 build . the latest public build, but not a beta.

Is there an update on MacOS support? Any insight on a timeline?

Or is there a place to find / keep track on this information myself?

Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone coming back to my leap motion controller I purchased years back.. im trying to run on Monterey is there anything at all in the works?? or is this becoming a dead end technology?

please someone help me set up lets become the two that work together to solve this ish and get the controller launched and go str8 to the moon with this technology I see it having limitless possibilities in where the tech can go/ help people in the future WE CANNOT GIVE UP lets try to work together and get this baby to work on Mac osx .. I do have an older MacBook def has older osx I can try to hook up there I just need to find a charger for the old laptop

PLEASE someone reach out if you have any reverse engineering skills, or maybe a master at running windows by partitioning their MacBook and setting up windows operating system instead??

lets work together maybe start up a leap motion discord!!!! what do we all say??? we need more heads on this tech that is why it is not getting anywhere..

the James Webb space telescope did not even have the technology to build certain parts when it first came out and developing for years and years and years,

and now look the thing is replacing Hubble and recording info and pictures of galaxies and star formations that we never have even seen before.

we can make this work we just need to set up a discord and get this baby rolling and some smart young heads working on breaking the MacBook osx, or maybe lets contact apple and get a developer tooling we need to make this work that we clearly don't have the clearance for..

Thanks and hope this resonates with at least one person!!
