Upon running the update, I was given an error regarding the Leap Service..
Something like, "Error opening file for writing".
The first time I clicked "Ignore", and when the Leap stopped working, I figured this had to be the culprit.
So I did a System Restore, and the Leap was working fine again. Then the pop-up about updating the software came again, so I thought I'd be a little more careful. I ran the update, but this time did not "Ignore" it. I went into Services, assuming I'd be able to find it and Stop it. It wasn't there. So I looked in the Taskmanager. Also absent. So I went and found the file (LeapSvc.exe or something), and renamed it. Told the Update to "Retry", and viola, Update completed. Yet, still the same problem persists. My device is broken.
My Leap has the green light on, but there are no red lights, and it shows as "Leap Motion Controller is off". I've tried plugging it into three different USB ports, but still nothing.
It's eternally frustrating when you have software that nags you to update it, and then the update breaks a perfectly functioning device. Now I'm totally screwed, because I can't go back with a System Restore again, as my only option now is to "Undo" the last System Restore (which I just did, in the hopes that the ability to Restore to earlier would pop up again).
System is Win 8.1 64bit
EDIT: Also, I should note that uninstalling and reinstalling, with restarts in-between, has proved completely fruitless.
UPDATE: As "luck" would have it, I had a copy of the prior installation package (1.1.3). Removed 1.2 and then installed 1.1.3, now I'm back in action.
