TL;DR New assets are on the way, but it will be a little while.
For a little background -- until very recently, augmented reality was impossible with the Unity 5.1 native VR plugin, which is why the assets have not been updated (full details in this thread). Unity 5.1.3 restored a lot of the functionality we need to enable AR.
It will take our team some time to build out and QA the core assets for both Unity 5.1.3 (released on Monday) and Oculus 0.7 (released yesterday). VR applications probably shouldn't be affected (though we won't know for sure until we test), but the augmented reality side of things has to be rebuilt to match the new plugin structure. Until then, we recommend using Oculus 0.5 for augmented reality, because later versions are incompatible with the Unity plugin for which the core assets were designed.
